And the Winner is...

This Blog entry has been edited to correct my shitty attitude. I cannot undo the hurt feelings I have caused, and I will think 3 times in the future before I post to my blog. Even though I was not the only entrant to feel the way I did at the time, I was the only one outspoken enough to say it. Unfortunately, I didn't think about who would be hurt by my statement nor did I consider the angst that would be caused by friends of Pip. I am honestly sorry, and I am a nice person, really. I made a mistake, and I'll consider others when post in the future.

Torrid chose her winner recently and even sent us all pictures of the winner.

Congratulations to Pip Puff.

I guess many of us misunderstood when Torrid said she was looking for a new face. There are some slight variations to Pip's appearance, but she could be Torrid's sister from the pics I've seen.

I would like to say I am not surprised, But Torrid is just people, and People's is peoples.

I'm think I might be dreading the party now, and I have a feeling that many won't show up now as I've made them angry at me, and rightly so. I would be angry with me if I were in their shoes too! Still, I hope to make some new friends, even with those that are not very happy with me. I hope they will see that I am human and can have egotistical outbursts and that I often make an ass of myself. I know this about me, and it helps me be tolerant of others and their mistakes. So, I'll say it one more time: The original post was me being an ass. I apologize with all that I am...and all that I hope to be.

And I still have some of my own ideas to recognize some of the lovely ladies in SL, be they known or unknown. Stay tuned.

Torrid Midnights Model Search - the finalists

A couple days ago, Torrid Midnight, the designer and face of Torrid Wear, announced the finalists for her model search. Here's the list of the lucky ones who made the first cut.

Finalists:

Anarchy Cinquetti
Emma Thorn
Ingrid Ingersoll
Kawaii Akebono
Kimberly Casanova
Noel Marlowe
Pancake Stryker
Pip Puff
Rayne Moonlight

I won't lie, I was disappointed to not make the cut, until I looked at the profiles of the finalists and realized I didn't have the 'edge' that Torrid was looking for. I'm too goody two shoes and that's just fine with me. I'm not saying they are bad, just edgier than I am.

All the ladies are lovely and I have one I am hoping for, which I won't name, but I am disappointed that there are some finalists who already have their own clothing line for which they are the "face" that represents their line.

Personally, I would not choose another designer to represent my line, it's bad marketing. You have this face that represents your brand, no, wait! They represent that other brand...no wait! wtf??

Being IN marketing in RL, I know how important branding is, and I hope that Torrid will realize that picking another designer, friend or not, is just bad for business. And she IS in business in Second Life.

What I am looking forward to, is finally using my sim crossing land to hold a party for more than 40 avatars to attend...We're going to celebrate the winner and the finalists and honor all the lovely ladies who had the guts to even try for the spot.

I can't wait to meet everyone. I've got to get busy building!

The Attack of the Night Before

So, here I am...waiting for the grid to come back up...so it can go back down for major update in the morning...I'll be at work, so that's not a big deal to me.

Seems there is a pattern of grid attacks just before a big update. :/

Last night there were a bunch of cubes rezzing and flying around but they kept sending the spam, "object could not find object" or something like that. Seems they realized they messed up in their scripting and tried again tonight and did it right (or is that wrong?).

The forum is full of people, over 1000 at the moment, and there is lot's of speculation about what happened.

I guess I'll call it an early night and try again tomorrow after the update...and maybe, hopefully, I'm crossing my fingers here...my recently upgraded video card and ram will enable me to view this cool new feature they're calling ripple water. Looks nice in the screen shots but I can't get it to work on my laptop.

I just loaded the 1.8 preview onto my desktop, (as suggested by Jeska Linden)...but can't log it tonight either.

::sigh:: ::yawn:: ::stretch::
Goodnight :)

Well...I played in the preview for a while...surfed the forums for a bit, then finally went back into Second Life. Shortly after I arrived at my home, the attack began again. The little buggers looked like this: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=44475
But Linden Labs shut them down before they became way too many. The little balls were bouncing around like crazy saying "oh shit" then suddenly, they were gone. POOF!
Nice Job LL!
Ok, Goodnight for real now. :)

Here is a good article about the attack the time before this one.

Torrid Midnights Model Search

Torrid Midnight is doing something really cool in SL!
She's looking for a new face to represent her clothing line "Torrid Wear"

I sent in my entry, which was great fun to put together...but the high scrutiny of my avatar and the viewing of the shots I took, made me rework the shape a bit. I left her face alone because she looks a lot like me in rl... but the shoulders were too narrow so I broadened them a bit...

Then I noticed that the butt was too big. ROFL! So back to slider 101 to make adjustments there, and while I was at it, I lost a few numbers on the belly slider too! Sent some new pics in to show I was paying attention...

So, since my first day in SL, I've been pretty tall...ok, an AMAZON is more like it...I hang out with really tall people in SL so it didn't matter too much, except that I always felt to damned tall.

Back to appearance mode one more time...I lost 16 points on the height slider. (16 points!!!)
Now the inworld "touch to find out your avatar height" shows my av to be the same height as I am in real life. COOLIO.
So, all in all, whether I make the cut or not, I am so glad Torrid ran this contest. I really like the way my avatar looks now....for now. :)

It Begins

I've finally decided to join the masses and create my own blog of my very own Second Life experiences. I'm completely new to the whole blogging thing, but it seems like a fun way to "journal" so here we go...

I'll share events, interesting thoughts, photos and other cool stuff that happens during my Second Life logins, and I'll try to keep drama to a minimum, (as I do in my first and second lives.)

Join me...
